Island Drilling Company is pleased to announce that the Island Innovator has officially commenced operations under a three year Permanent Plug & Abandonment (PP&A) contract for Equinor on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This marks an important milestone in our collaboration with Equinor and represents a significant step forward in our continued focus on high quality, efficient, and safe PP&A operations.

The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has granted Equinor consent to use Island Innovator for the permanent plugging of wells on the Heidrun field.

Petro.no has published an article about Island Innovator and its upcoming contract with Equinor. The scope of work for the rig is taking shape while it is currently at Hanøytangen being prepared for at least three years of operations for the operator.

These programs kicked off in mid-November 2025 and concluded at the end of January, ahead of schedule and cost.
